Protect

We protect what we love, value and appreciate

We protect and prioritize what is important to us.

We decide what is important in a gradual process throughout our life. Prioritizing the important and the urgent.
Because we each only have 24 hours in our day.

Thank you for joining this journey

Thank you for making it to this episode of the podcast. Thank you for joining me on the quest to do something daily, and making a personal impact in the fight for Planet Earth.

The question most of you have been asking is:

What can I do today?

There are the big initiatives and actions. And we can talk about those together in upcoming podcasts.
Today, however, I want to start with the smallest, simplest action we can each take: Appreciation.

Gratitude

We each ‘Make Great Memories’ in the little things that happen to us each day. A layering of small moments and treasured sounds.

  • Birds tweeting
  • Sunrise or sunset
  • The gift of a clear blue sky
  • The shape of angry rain clouds
  • The sound of the monsoon rain on your roof
  • Baby’s breathe in a mason jar at your bridal shower
  • Your cat
  • Your baby’s smile

We each find something to appreciate and smile about. Talk about something in nature that you like.

Take a walk or a bike ride.
Or just take off your shoes and walk in the sand or the grass.
Appreciation.

Then share what makes you smile with those around you.

We protect what we value

We protect what we appreciate, value and love.
We fight fiercely to protect what we care for.
We prioritize what is important.

No judgment.

Zoom out. Zoom in.

So how do we practice zooming out and including a prioritization that is outside the circle of ourselves and our loved ones?

EQ skill: Appreciation

We practice appreciation. What is its value, especially for young children, teens, and young adults?
Discussing and sharing what makes our heart sing allows us to engage at a human level with each other.
More importantly, we communicate our human history. The story of memories – special meals, moments of despair, memories of triumph.

We create a connection and share why it matters to us. Each day we see more research that argues for the mental health advantages to making human connections.

So, whether it is the big fight for Planet Earth, or another cause close to your heart, talk to someone close to you.
Discover the purpose that gives you passion.

Planet Earth

Today’s episode:

What I am doing, daily:

  1. Making a single climate-related decision or action, daily. (More ideas in upcoming podcasts)
  2. Learning something new about the urgency – via blogs, conversations, new technology.
  3. Talking to people around me about the imminent threat.
  4. But also actively discussing the many opportunities to figure out a solution.

Then repeat tomorrow.

Today’s podcast episode:

The aim is to raise enough awareness that we sense the urgency of the situation and begin to take daily actions.

Will you join me?
