Guest interview Quarantine Phone Calls podcast: Karena de Souza, FoW, Strategist, Canada

What is Quarantine Phone Calls?

As the world went into Quarantine and lockdown, a group of remote-workers gathered in a virtual co-working space set out on a mission:
To record uplifting, interesting phonecalls with people from all over the world and put it into a podcast.

The result is the Quarantine Phone Calls podcast.

Would you like to discover new people, the way you discover new books or podcasts?

This podcast is the brainchild of Matthew Thompson, a young storyteller based out of Belfast, Northern Ireland. In these moments of lockdown, he came up with a way to connect strangers and launched this podcast.

The same eight questions

When you sign up, you are sent a list of 8 questions, the same questions for every interview:

1. What’s your first memory?
2. Who are you, where are you and what are you working on?
3. What new opportunities do you have now that you didn’t have a month ago?
4. Greatest success
5. Greatest challenge (and how you overcame it)
6. Advice to your 18-year-old self
7. One THING you’d recommend to us (book, podcast, album etc).
8. If you could send the world an email right now, what would you say?

Nina Polo

There is a rotating set of hosts, and mine was Nina Polo. It was just an engaging conversation! You feel her lean into the questions, probing, curious, asking all the questions that I would want the answers to. (I know because I have become a Quarantine Phone Calls Junkie, and each time you are eavesdropping on a great discovery!)

What you will learn:

We covered many topics even though we didn’t get to cover all the questions (and keep in the time allotment!)

  • Of course, we discussed the Future of Work
  • We talked about a trip around the world with our 3 young children
  • About how the Quarantine has served as a wonderful dry run for the bigger challenge ahead – Climate Change.

I hope you enjoy this interview as you discover a little more of the variety of me and the way the COVID crisis has set the stage for the Future of Work and a new recalibration of society.
