tilt the future 100 day challenge 100 days of showing up and taking control

100 days of showing up

The 100-day challenge

You would normally find me talking about a world 5-15 years ahead. That is the universe where I am most comfortable. I like being that scout, who goes a few miles or kilometers ahead and comes back to the pack saying ‘Watch out, there is beauty or danger ahead.’

So why pick 100 days?

With all the uncertainty, 100 days from now could possibly feel like 2025!
But 100 days from now actually falls around Labour Day 2020, a day that typically signifies the end of summer.

Like the lyrics to that Phineas & Ferb song:

“There’s 104 days of summer vacation
And school comes along just to end it
So the annual problem for our generation
Is finding a good way to spend it”

So how do you want to fill the next 100 days?

In these Covid-19 times, the days may have no rhythm. There is so much uncertainty around schools re-opening, on-site workplace interactions, and public transportation.

Each province, state or country has taken on a different approach to gradually loosening the restrictions imposed to flatten the curve.
Phrases like Phase 1, Phase 2; Stage 1 and Stage 2; or New Zealand’s Covid alert system of Alert 3 and Alert 2 might be very prevalent in your area.

All of these imply that someone else is making (necessary and holistic) decisions for you, that will invariably impact your personal freedom, your opportunities, and in some cases your future.

Taking back control

How about if you want to take back some control instead of waiting for life to happen to you?

If that is the case, join us.

Age is no restriction.

Just show up.

Nothing more is required of you than to show up.
Your side of the bargain – choose to do something (or just show up) for 100 days.
Our side – to acknowledge your action and participation.

What do I have to do?

No rules. No restrictions.
This is literally about being able to take back control of your life by doing something that you want to do each day.

It may just be showing up and clicking that box.

Or it could be something more directed.

Here are a few ideas:

1. Read for 15 mins each day
2. Write 100 words a day
3. Create a daily list of 10 to challenge your creativity
4. Plan and cook some special meals during this time
5. Start or continue a gratitude thread
6. Learn to meditate
7. Train for a virtual iron man
8. Create a calling tree of check-ins for seniors
9. Learn something new – a language, edX class etc
10. Fundraise for a local food bank
11. Create and give a class
12. Work on elections

I will followup with a personal email. Meantime do you care to share what you will be taking on for the next 100 days?

I was going to do something grand like running but I may not follow through so I’m going to journal for 10 minutes every day

Excellent choice! And it is all about the little actions. And being seen!
