if you were a book

If you were a book, which book would you be?

It is still that delicious time of the New Year, when the nights are long and there is nothing more satisfying than being tucked up with a lovely hot beverage and a good book. And I have a stack of these treasures by my bed, by my couch, by my desk.

Fearless‘ or ‘Becoming‘?

But it got me thinking – if I were a book, what book title would I be? Does my selection reflect my past or my intent? Or is it just a title that catches my attention? Would others use the same titles to describe me?

Here is a list of a few that called to me today as I wrote this – who knows, different day, different year it may be a different selection!

Pick a book title that describes your life

Have fun with this little exercise! Which titles – just the title – makes your shortlist. How did you interpret the titles or content?

My current shortlist of books

  • National Geographic Traveler – this was easy! I love traveling especially in the pursuit of discovering a culture or eco-system so that I can help preserve – either through active engagement or anecdotally in words.
  • Outliers‘ by Malcolm Gladwell – as someone with a futurist mindset, I often feel like an outlier. But there is camaraderie in recognizing fellow outliers.
  • Not a Penny Less, Not a Penny More‘ by my favourite author Jeffrey Archer speaks to my sense of fair play – Giver or Matcher?
  • Fearless‘ by Arianna Huffington – inspired me to speak up and share my thoughts on the Future of Work
  • Becoming‘ by Michelle Obama – of course this had to make my shortlist this year. It is a genius of a title. And it describes me in my current journey .. Becoming …

What now GenZ and influencers?

My challenge to you: Have fun with this and share your insightful or craziest book title.
