Tilt or Tumble – Creating a Future We Can Hope For
This was not my normal audience. Would they respond to a presentation titled Tilt or Tumble? I had been invited to be the keynote presenter at a seminar for Canadian Not-For-Profit Organizations (NPO) hosted by the accounting firm RLB.
What could I share about the workplace with Not For Profit Organizations?
In fact, what should I share about the workplace of the Future?
I realized that this community has a unique vantage point on society. They usually step in to fill gaps that the traditional structures in Government and Commerce have not been able to fill successfully. As such, they are the first group that will be caught dealing with the fallout as the world transitions from the fading Industrial Era into the Intelligence Era.
I decided to share three key ideas with this influential group:
-
Understand the scale of the change we will be seeing
-
An invitation to see this transition space as particularly valuable
-
Offer a sense of agency over our destiny and future
My mission: Offer hope. Make a difference in the climate crisis.
How do I find the right words to encourage individuals to test out their own version of change?
What could I do when there are so many other brighter minds and eloquent voices out there? Could I hope to make a difference?
Tilt or Tumble – Creating a Future We Can Hope For.
I thank RLB LLP for inviting me to speak at their event.

MAKE. TAKE. TALK.
What do you hope to learn? Here are some ways to turn information into action:
MAKE: A NOTE
- What will you notice about the changes in technology around you and your reliance on them?
- Make an effort to focus on the social aspects of our lives. What could or should change? How do you want it to change?
TAKE: AN ACTION
- Take some time to journal your reflection on this post.
- Watch TEDx talks or read books on the topic.
- Sign up for the newsletter to learn about related activities and webinars.
TALK: SHARE YOUR LEARNING
- Discuss the concept of the change of eras with one other person – it could be a work colleague, a young adult or an educator.
