Peeling back the onion

We are complex. As individuals, we are layered like an onion.

Smooth on the outside, but layer upon complex layer beneath that.

Simplicity and complexity at the same time. Tissue paper thin emotions over meaty robust intensity below.

Occasionally, though, we may hit a rough patch – a decaying layer:

  • one bad decision that ends us in trouble with the law
  • a business commitment or start-up that fails
  • an illness
  • a bad relationship
  • a lay off

Does that mean that we are totally unredeemable?

Do we choose to throw out the whole person like the whole onion?
How can we salvage the better parts – and like the onion, use the texture of those layers to add flavour to a stew or soup?

Make. Take. Talk.

When we talk food waste, what would you do in this instance?
When we talk people, how do we come back without letting that one bad experience damage the other layers of our life?
