Love you forever by Robert Munsch – Parenting the class of 2030

“I’ll love you forever
I’ll like you for always
As long as I am living
My baby you’ll be”

I opened the gift, started reading and melted into a puddle of tears.

Holding my new baby in my arms, I recognized myself in the beautiful illustrations by Sheila McGraw. As I turned the pages, I watched how this little babe would quickly grow through my life and into his own self. Here it was laid out in front of me.

The link is eternal

We read the story to our children.
We read the story with our children.

I recently asked our son what he learned from this family favourite. ‘That no matter how old I grow, how established I become, I will always be your child.”

For us as parents, it reminded us that parenting is a long term play, an investment in love that will last a lifetime, truly a commitment ’til death us do part.

Resilience

There is security and stability in knowing that you belong. Always. In a world where things are changing so rapidly that security is the bedrock on which EQ skills of resilience, self-confidence, self-reliance are established.

Parent of #classof2030

We gift the book to every new parent we knew – wherever they might be in the world. In English. In French. In German.

This Canadian treasure has nurtured young Canadians for a generation, as they sit on the laps of their parents.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
