swift

Go swift and far

Today I reap gold.

All those moments of parental cleaving and heart-ache as he gradually grew into his independence:

  • letting go of my hand at kindergarten
  • surviving sweaty goals and skinned knees on the soccer field
  • watching him drive away solo in the minivan
  • dropping him off at university
  • sitting on the sidelines, watching his quest for a career
  • leaving him at the airport for his exchange semester in SE Asia
  • driving him to NYC for his internship
  • picking him up from his back-packing tour of South America

Today I watch the broken parts of my heart swell with pride at what has been created with every tiny letting go.

 Today he starts work

Like the living arrow that he is, this time he takes flight into the world of tomorrow.

Congratulations!

We are incredibly proud of the global citizen you have become and wish you joy, discovery and constant growth as you launch this next phase of your life, that is already so rich in experiences, friendships, adventures, and expectations.

Remember to stop often to enjoy the moment, and be grateful for where you are, how you got there and who you are with.

And continue to dream big.

May you ‘go swift and far‘.
