Are you missing your commute?

It took me a while – almost 3 months – to figure out why I was having trouble fitting everything in even though I was working from home full-time. I’d been better organized when I was away from home 5:30am-7:00pm.

After a while, I realized it was my commute.

Over 16 years, I had developed a rhythm and way to make this time productive. I would plan my week & day, pay bills, call the plumber, meal plan, read books, practice my choral singing, all en-route work – even with its 5 steps from car-train-ferry-subway-walk.

More importantly, it was the mental transition that happened as I ‘switched’ from home to work mode, and vice versa.

Is the same happening for you as COVID-19 forces you to work from home? It’s worth a think. And if it is, what have you done to create that separation? Let us share the best ideas to help each other.
